M50 high-flow meter

High-flow M-50 meter

The GESPASA M-50 high-flow meter is a positive displacement volumetric counter designed to accurately measure fuel delivery in industrial and high-capacity refuelling installations. Its architecture is based on a measuring chamber with three rotors that rotate in unison, driven by a distribution gear train that synchronises the movement and transmits rotation to the register, ensuring a stable, repeatable reading even when there are variations in pressure, temperature or viscosity in the line. Thanks to this mechanism, the M-50 maintains accuracy in real operating conditions, with a maximum error of ±0.2% and repeatability ≤ 0.07%.

Designed for high flow rate in diesel and gasoline, the M-50 covers a range from 55 to 550 l/min and connects via 2” flanges. The hydraulic sizing minimises pressure loss and, together with the stability of the rotor system, enables sustained flow operation without sacrificing accuracy. To protect metrological integrity, it incorporates an air eliminator —preventing the meter from counting air pockets— and an integrated prefilter with 80/170 µm mesh, so the fluid enters the measuring chamber clean. This combination is key to maintaining meter performance over thousands of loading cycles, with fewer maintenance stoppages and higher installation availability.

The M-50 body is made of aluminium with Viton seals, a robust choice compatible with common fuels. In the chamber there is no erosive metal-to-metal contact, which reduces internal wear and preserves calibration over the long term. In addition, the instrument integrates a continuous adjustment mechanism that allows fine micro-adjustment of the calibration point to align indications with the site’s reference standards. The operating temperature range is wide (−30 °C to +71 °C) and the maximum admissible pressure reaches 10 bar (145 psi), so the meter can be safely integrated into pressurised manifolds, discharge lines and transfer skids.

For environments with safety requirements in explosive atmospheres, the M-50 features ATEX certification II 2G, with protection mode Ex h IIB T5 Gb, meeting typical requirements in pump rooms, loading racks and distribution plants. The family supports several readout configurations: mechanical register, pulse output for connection to external systems, or GE electronic display —ideal when litre presetting, solenoid valve shut-off and supervision communications are required—. This versatility makes integration easy both in standalone units and in high-flow electronic or mechanical dispensers, while maintaining the same metrological base.

In real applications, the M-50 is the reference meter within GESPASA units from 300 to 500 l/min, where it is combined with high-flow BDP pumps and GE electronics or GK-7 controllers; this provides a transfer set with presetting, partial/total register and consumption management. This native compatibility with the brand’s electronics simplifies integration and supply traceability, while maintaining the meter’s volumetric accuracy.

For the integrator, the M-50 also offers ease of installation and maintenance. The 2” connection, the packaging dimensions of 510 × 460 × 490 mm and the gross weight of 28 kg streamline logistics and mounting on a baseplate or frame. The pulse output allows the signal to be sent to PLCs or to the GE console, and the range of options —pulse emitter, mechanical preset with shut-off valve, and printer version— broadens the spectrum of control for loading and unloading. With this, the M-50 can serve as the main meter on dispensing islands, transfer lines between tanks or loading skids, always with the same objective: reliable, stable metering at high flow rates.

The M50 high-flow meter condenses GESPASA’s experience in high-performance volumetric metering: 55–550 l/min, ±0.2% accuracy, ≤ 0.07% repeatability, air eliminator and 80/170 µm prefiltration as standard, aluminium body with Viton, −30…+71 °C, 10 bar and ATEX II 2G Ex h IIB T5 Gb. A rugged, adjustable meter ready to integrate with GE electronics and GK-7 systems, created for diesel and gasoline delivery where accuracy and operational continuity are non-negotiable

M80 high-flow meter

The M-80 high-flow meter is GESPASA’s option for high-volume fuel transfers when an exact, stable reading is required above 1,000 l/min. Based on the same positive displacement technology with three synchronised rotors, the M-80 ensures consistent metering in tank loading and unloading lines, industrial dispenser manifolds and pumping skids, even with pressure or temperature variations resulting from operating conditions. The engineering with no erosive metal-to-metal contacts in the chamber minimises wear and protects calibration over time.

With a range of 115 to 1,150 l/min and a 3” connection, the M-80 is designed to operate as the primary meter in 1,000 l/min skid-mounted systems, where it is combined with high-flow BDP vane pumps and control electronics. This integration is common in the brand’s high-flow electronic and mechanical supply units, where the M-80 provides the metrological base on which the GE console performs volume presetting and valve control, or communicates with the GK-7 controller for consumption and user management.

Accuracy is ±0.2% with ≤ 0.07% repeatability, values maintained thanks to the stability of the distribution gear train and the low-friction design of the rotor assembly. As standard, the M-80 includes an air eliminator —to prevent air being counted as liquid— and a prefilter with 80/170 µm mesh, which protects the measuring chamber and reduces premature fouling. Like the rest of the series, the body is aluminium, with Viton seals and a micro-adjustment mechanism to fine-tune calibration in the field. The meter operates between −30 °C and +71 °C, withstands up to 10 bar, and is supplied with ATEX certification II 2G under Ex h IIB T5 Gb, for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

In terms of connectivity, the M-80 can be configured with a mechanical register, pulse output or GE electronic display, depending on the required level of automation. The pulse output enables direct connection to PLCs, SCADA systems and the GE console —which provides total/partial display and presetting—; in turn, the GESPASA ecosystem allows integration with the GK-7 controller for fleet and own-consumption control, using RS-485 communication and the brand’s protocol. This set of options makes it possible to deploy solutions ranging from simple loading bays to managed systems with users, limits and reports.

The M-80 is intended for installations where operational continuity is critical: private supply terminals, logistics bases or industrial plants with simultaneous high flow rate and accuracy requirements. The 3” connection and its packaging of 580 × 500 × 610 mm, with a gross weight of 47 kg, make skid mounting and connection to large-diameter manifolds easier. When 1,000 l/min systems are required, integrating the M-80 into GESPASA electronic or mechanical units is straightforward, maintaining supply traceability and reading reliability in every loading cycle.

Operationally, the meter is optimised for diesel and gasoline, meeting ATEX safety requirements and offering low maintenance thanks to the absence of erosive metal contact in the chamber. Its continuous micro-adjustment allows deviations to be compensated after service tasks or changes in process conditions, maintaining ±0.2% over time. In environments with advanced electronics, the pulse output and compatibility with GE and GK-7 add a layer of control, presetting and event logging that simplifies audits and inventory reconciliations.

The M80 high-flow meter is the reference counter for high flow when metrological accuracy, mechanical robustness and automation compatibility are required: 115–1,150 l/min, ±0.2%, ≤ 0.07% repeatability, air eliminator and 80/170 µm prefiltration, aluminium + Viton, −30…+71 °C, 10 bar and ATEX II 2G Ex h IIB T5 Gb. All of this with direct integration into 1,000 l/min units, connection to GE and GK-7, and the reliability that characterises GESPASA’s M Series.
